Great post! I am going through crazy growth on Medium right now and I somewhat agree with your points. My posts about my Medium journey attract more readers than my average personal development posts but it can not come any close to my personal growth posts that go viral through curation.
Posts about Medium can’t be curated, that means even if you post through publications etc., the amount of people you can reach through these posts is quite limited. Even though they get more reads than my average posts, they hardly make more than $100.
I already have posts with more than 100,000 views — that would be impossible for a story around how much money I make on Medium.
I totally get your point of deciding not to share your Medium journey anymore. It makes sense.
However, I personally decided on the contrary. So many people leave responses on those posts sharing how it inspired them to keep going on Medium — in my opinion, that’s incredibly valuable.
For me, personal growth is also about finding your passion. And at some point, it’s also about entrepreneurship (for me, every writer is also an entrepreneur). And if I support someone to keep going with his writing or to start writing on Medium with one of these posts, it was worth it.
